- Set your mind at ease when leaving your kids by preparing an informational sheet about your family in case of emergency. We recommend including at least the following (in order of importance):
- Emergency 9-1-1 Information
- Home Address
- Home Telephone Number
- Preferred Hospital
- Each Child’s:
- Birthday
- Current Height and Weight
- Allergies
- Current Medications
- Special Considerations
- Favorite Toy (for an unexpected ambulance trip)
- Parents’ Telephone and Location Information
- Other Reliable Adults’ Information (family, neighbors)
- If your kids are 3 or older, remind them of their jobs while you’re away. Brushing teeth, choosing pajamas, and using the toilet are all great ways for the kids to show how much they know to the babysitter!
- Ask your babysitter to help the kids clean up the day’s mess as part of the bedtime routine. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your kids to hear the message from another caring adult!
